The ink on the ink sleeve represents our connection to our ancestral pasts. The design represents the history of the tribes that we have joined in order to find harmony with nature and to continue to maintain balance within our world.

What does “Native American” mean?

Traditional tattoos are those in which the colors of the bloodline that was used in the creation of the tattoo represent the color of the tribal heritage of the individual. All tribal tattoos are defined by the color and the tribes that the tattoos belong to, and how these colors reflect the bloodline in which the tattoo is placed. Some colors of the bloodline are red, white, yellow, white with black color, grey, black with green color, light brown, brown with red color and black with brown color.

What was your original intent in creating that tattoo?

Native American tattoos are designed to have some meaning. Many meanings have been attached to traditional tattoo designs. For example, in the “Creek Dance” Native Americans dance around the sacred water creeks in the Grand Canyon to draw attention to the beauty there without disturbing their sacred land.
