What’s the point?
Here’s what you do:
Read about the basics of drawing. Don’t just learn how to use your brush, learn how to draw. Learn how to draw lines and curves. Learn to draw some basic shapes. Learn how to draw in color. Learn how to draw cartoons and cartoon backgrounds. Learn from some of the great artists at ArtSchool101.com. Use these tips on your own: Create your own illustration!
Use your artistic skills on other art projects, such as the world’s most popular site artboard.net.
Get started with some basic art tutorials to learn basic principles of basic art.
Learn how to do basic line and curve drawing.
Do some basic drawing on a white surface, such as a piece of paper. Then draw a white line with it, and compare the result to a picture similar to the line you drew.
Don’t do these things at school: You don’t need to learn to draw or do a lot of other art skills. There are plenty of other fun things to do around your house, and it’s more fun to draw the stuff you’re actually good at. But school only makes the problem worse! If you want to move on up into a professional career, there are just a few things you need to do in order to get there.
There are a few good reasons for this:
School doesn’t prepare you enough for the future of this art.
You learn things only through school that you need to know on your own time.
It makes you feel like you know you can’t succeed without school.
How good do you need to be in order to get into school?
The only thing you need to focus on is the quality of your skills. A solid foundation will help you understand the concepts behind your art or make it easier to draw.
You need to make sure that the materials you’re using are good enough. For example, if you’re making cartoon backgrounds, you don’t want to print out all your shapes out from a sheet of paper. You need to copy the shapes you get by copying the paper. A white background makes the drawings darker; a bright background is lighter. This will make it easy for you to see the difference.
