Pro-Kremlin activists from Russian nationalist group Nashi have been held after clashes in Kyiv.
Nashi, which stands for “Right Cause”, had been holding a rally in support of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych.
Protesters say at least 12 were injured in clashes between police and Nashi supporters and were forced to flee their homes.
Nashi has not commented on the arrests.
Nashi activists, who have held similar rallies in Moscow and elsewhere in recent days, are angry that Ukraine’s parliament voted on Sunday to approve the new interim prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
In a statement, the group’s leader, Sergei Yaroshevsky, said that there was a “war on Ukraine”, which he described as being waged by the country’s “old political, economic and cultural elites”.
In response to his allegations, Mr Yatsenyuk said: “We didn’t sign up to such a state [Nashi’s].”

Meanwhile the EU has imposed asset freezes on 14 Russian individuals and 15 organisations with links to the annexation of Crimea, including two energy companies and a
