The City’s Free Boiler Grant program is designed to aid people who face a hardship and are unable to pay a replacement boiler bill or pay back a sewer extension service charge. Please contact our information officer at 212-788-7575.
To apply, make sure you have a current or valid New York State issued photo ID. It may also be helpful to bring the documents listed below.
You must have a clean bill of sale or your current water bills. Proof of residency (name, address and zip code) is usually not necessary, but will help us to contact the person if they do not respond to an inquiry.
You must have a copy of your utility bill, which should be at least a year old.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance may not issue refunds on your current utility bill; nor will they reimburse for additional taxes or fees.
You must be able to pay at least a full one-half a dollar in utility bills for your dwelling or home at one time. You have the option to apply for a free boiler extension service, but it may take a bit longer as we will need to have the boiler bill and utility information in hand.
You will receive a receipt for your application from the City.
Apply by telephone.
To find out more about applications (including the $100 application fee) go to www.nyc.gov/spandp.
The City does not accept unpaid applications over the phone or through any other method! You must be able to come into any city building Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8am and 4pm on or before the day you submit your application. You will not be able to enter City property or buildings after the close of business Monday through Saturday.
You must provide all necessary information to make sure we don’t miss you!
