With more than 300 million unique visitors per month, the internet is a great way to share your passions with a large audience.
But the internet is a lot harder when your passions are political.
Now an interesting story appears to have been going on around the world, one that highlights the way in which people can use the internet to incite violence against their country’s leaders, but it’s not just the U.S.; it’s also China.
A lot of what the story illustrates sounds familiar, in that it was an attempt by some “activists” in China to create confusion and confusion about where protesters were coming from.
We’re going to go through some of the basics of the story here, but first we need a bit of some context.
China has recently started a large-scale crackdown on dissidents and activists and has been calling them “China citizens” – people that have lived in the country, work in the country, and have families in the country. They are now considered citizens of a new economic zone called the Shenhua Economic Zone in Chongqing.
Shenhua was established as an exclusive industrial zone to develop the country’s economy. At its height, it had 4.8 million people working at the zone, with 7 million in residential construction. By 2011, some 4.5 million people moved to the Shenhua Economic Zone. It has also become very much a tourist destination and tourist town – many people who originally worked in Shenhua now own Shenhua-branded businesses.
So, how’s this story going? Well, to start, China is the most populous country in the world. By the end of 2011, China was the world’s 10th largest economy. This means that one of the largest businesses in any country is actually a company that makes its products within a country. That is a lot of business.
A lot of it is run by state-owned enterprises, but there are also some private companies, mostly based in big cities, that have created tremendous wealth for themselves.
Now, while China’s economy is a giant machine, it still suffers from a lot of problems. Corruption
